support for mid bluetooth LE devices

Could you offer support for midi bluetooth LE devices?

Having midi control is in/out is a VERY useful feature (already part of iMix) but once the lightning port is used for a VGA or other video adapter there is no connectivity for a midi interface. wifi and bluetooth midi is an option and i have managed to get the iMix app working with a bluetooth-midi LE device but its not a straight forward task and it still appears as a midi device long after bluetooth has been turned off. Getting the device made available to iMix involves opening and closing other apps to enable the midi stream that iMix can then "jump" on to.

If there is anyway you could provide a midi dialogue page to select the midi device it would be useful.
It appears to me that bluetooth LE devices are connected to the ipad by the app rather than the ipad bluetooth settings page.

any info on this would be appreciated. thanks

Hi again, in the meantime after some trial and error, I can confirm that the workaround mentioned by OP @Steev O WORKS!  Here's what I did:

  1. Open GarageBand - this free app has an dialogue box that allows your iPad to detect and pair your Bluetooth MIDI device.
  2. Tap on an instrument in Garageband to reveal the full menus.
  3. Select the gear-wheel Setting icon, and navigate to Advanced | Bluetooth MIDI devices
  4. Turn on your Bluetooth MIDI device (in my case, it's a Yamaha MD-BT01, which I have plugged into a Morningstar MC3)
  5. iPad / Garageband detects the device, select Connect in the Garageband Bluetooth MIDI devices menu to connect to it.
  6. Now go back to iMiX, navigate to the MIDI tab: you will now see your MIDI device listed at the top

In my case I had already set up the MC3 to execute "Go", "Stop", "Previous Cue" and "Next Cue" Playlist commands, and had set up a "Morningstar MC3" MIDI mapping list in iMiX: I was able to test instantly, everything worked first time!

I have achieved the desired outcome: As a guitarist in a band I can now control audio/visual presentations with my feet with the full power, convenience and ease of use of iMiX. I will be using a second small pedalboard with iPad, MC3 controller, A/V splitter and DI.

I hope this proves useful: it's the perfect solution for me, and I'm probably not alone in wanting to do this kind of thing!

You can also use midimittr app. It is free.

Thanks @Gregor, I just tried that app, it works nicely.  And it feels like a better way of doing it!

Hi, did this feature get added? I would like to be able to control iMix16 with my feet.  I thought a midi foot controller would be perfect, but I can't see a way to use Bluetooth to connect it to iMix.  Is there a way to do this with the current version of the app? Thank you.

I should add: I am using an iPad, not a laptop. Is there any way of being able to cue playlist items with a foot controller?  What would you recommend? Thank you

Brilliant! thanks

This is already on to-do list and will be added into the app at some point.
