I have MiX16 version 5 pro, every time I connect my iPad via the HDMI out cable supplied by Apple, the video feed is fine for around 30 mins, then it loses connection. After several attempts to unplug and replug the connection, the feed returns. This reoccurs again after a short period.
Did you try with VGA? I always use VGA so that i can have sound via jack and have no problem playing videos for hours without stopping or restarting the app.

I have iOS 10.1.1
I have had the same problem with the previous version, I am connecting straight to a cinema projector, via the DVI port. So the signal is converted to HDMI from the iPad cable, then back to DVI at the projector input.
